Nutrition for Women

One of the most important aspects of weight loss is to make sure you have the right nutrition, not just a small amount of calories. In other words instead of focusing on eating LESS food, try to make sure you are eating the RIGHT foods. This is why diets like Medifast and Nutrisystem work so well… they are giving you the right mix of nutrients instead of just telling you to ignore one food group or worse, just eat less.

Dieter’s Tip: Choose a diet based on how YOU can keep up with it, not on someone else’s results. Fad diets love to show you extreme cases but everyone’s body is different and some people lose weight faster than others. You are 100 times more likely to succeed on a diet if you choose one you can stick to over the long haul.

When it comes to many fad diets on the other hand, nutrition is completely ignored. The low carb diet group is notorious for this and as a result many women feel tired and sluggish, and hardly have enough energy to do their daily routine let alone run on a treadmill. News flash: your body needs carbs, it needs fat, and it needs protein, each of which get ignored in at least a handful of popular fad diets.

So what can you do about this? Well first of all take a step back and look at the overall diet. Does it seem like something you can stick to? Can you really go without ever eating a bowl of cereal or a slice of bread again? I know I couldn’t. Second, use your best judgement. If the diet is telling you to eat nothing but a slushy concoction of maple syrup and lemon juice, do you think that will give you all the nutrition you need? I didn’t think so.

Use your best judgement when starting a diet and you will get maximum results every time!
